Art for takayna

  • Long Gallery Salamanca Arts Centre Hobart, Tasmania Australia (map)

Last Easter, more than fifty artists immersed themselves in the threatened forests, coastlines and rivers of the takayna / Tarkine.

Finally, after COVID-postponements, we are pleased to present to you the body of artwork developed from that experience.

takayna / Tarkine has never been under more threat. We are currently facing not just the imposition of MMG's toxic tailings dam proposal, but two ecologically damaging, risky and unnecessary mine proposals from reckless mining company Venture Minerals. It has never been more critical for us to get these beautiful and thoughtful images of these threatened and wild places out into the the public psyche.

This exhibition will run for three weeks, and our opening night will be held on Thursday the 14th of April.

Open daily 10am-6pm.
