Save Bass Strait
About the Salmon
As a three year salmon feedlot trial proposed for Bass Strait waters 6km north of pataway/Burnie approaches, here’s some of the reasons why this aquaculture development doesn’t belong here. Firstly, the delicacy of Tasmanian salmon, may not be what it appears to be.
Environmentally, it is no better as highlighted in Richard Flannigan’s book ‘Toxic’, as well as in ‘Paradise Lost’ below.
It doesn’t end there, the companies behind the Tasmanian Salmon industry don’t have a great reputation either. Here’s a piece on JBS, the parent company of Huon Aquaculture, one of the major three Salmon farming bodies operating in Tasmanian waters.
It’s time to get involved, join NWTAS for Clean Oceans (No Salmon Feedlots) and the Bob Brown Foundation for updates and to have your say.
