Big Canopy Campout 2023

Every year a weekend is held for the Big Canopy Campout, a global event that brings together groups around the world that share the values of protecting and conserving forests.

In 2023, the event was also to raise awareness and funds for the SËRA Foundation, a group of indigenous Siekopai youth in the Ecuadorian Amazon, standing to protect their ancestral lands from oil and palm oil industries. This year 44 campouts were held across 18 countries.

Once again the Bob Brown foundation headed for the threatened forests of lutruwita/Tasmania. This time with a group of sixty, we headed for a scheduled logging coupe within the Eastern Tires, breeding habitat of the critically endangered swift parrot.

The weekend was wild.
