Just a little photo set documenting everyday life on our trip to nipaluna / Hobart.
This trip was to attend the opening of Karen’s group exhibition ‘A New Eye on Nature’ at Wild Island. The exhibition showcased the works of three photographic artists, Kelly Slater, Nick Green and Karen Keefe, who each spent time on different Tasmanian Land Conservancy properties as part of an artist residency program run by the TLC.
These photos depict the days that followed.
It wouldn’t be a trip to Hobart without a visit to the Market, would it?
We stopped for coffee at Retro Cafe. A child dressed as spiderman smooshed his face against the window beside us. I wasn’t quick enough to get a photo, I’m also quite hesitant of taking photos of strangers, particularly little kids. Keep doing you, kiddo.
The exhibition! It makes me pretty happy to have watched Karen experience this and be recognised for her work.
Such an artist pose from this talented wombat! Of course the exhibition had to be displayed in our favourite place in nipaluna/Hobart (Wild Island).

Lunch stop! Mmmmm bagels
Somewhere Coffee Bar, a superb coffee bar that’s recently become home to the film drop-off point for Ikigai Film Lab ( a Naarm/Melbourne lab where I source my film and have colour rolls developed). We had to check it out.
kunanyi had a coating of snow the next morning, so here’s Karen blocking traffic to catch that action.

We couldn’t leave without another visit to Somewhere Coffee! Brian really knows his coffee, he teaches coffee, he judges coffee competitions and is constantly importing specialty coffee for us to try. Brian also shoots a mix of film/digital with Voigtlander and Fujifilm, so he’s quite alright!
Home time. This time via the snowy highlands.
